Where the ’54 Started
October 2, 2026
Every project has a starting point, and this is ours. A 1954 Chevrolet pickup that had already been around for more than seventy years before we decided it was time to bring it back to life.
It wasn’t perfect, and that was part of what made it interesting. The old green paint, white cab, original character, and years of wear told the story of a truck that had been used rather than preserved. There was plenty that needed attention, but underneath all of it was the reason I wanted to take this project on in the first place. It was still a great old Chevy.
The Starting Point
Before taking anything apart, I wanted to document the truck exactly as it was. These are the photos I’ll eventually be able to look back on when the build is finished and remember just how far it came.
The plan isn’t simply to make it look new again. I want to keep the character that makes a 1954 Chevy special while making it a truck that can actually be enjoyed and driven. That means improving the suspension, brakes, drivetrain, comfort, and reliability without losing the personality of the original truck.
What Comes Next
There are going to be a lot of decisions along the way. Some will be straightforward. Others will probably change as the build progresses. That’s part of why I’m documenting the project here—not just to show the finished truck, but to remember the process of getting there.
This is the beginning. The truck before the teardown, before the upgrades, and before the transformation.
